RTSD Bus Drivers Excel At Delco Bus Rodeo
Two drivers performed so well that they have earned spots in the state competition.

Members of the Radnor Township School District's Transportation Department participated in the 19th Annual Delaware County School Bus Rodeo. And in typical Radnor fashion, two RTSD bus drivers earned spots in the state competition.
According to the district, five district bus drivers competed in the rodeo on April 22 at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit in Morton.
Drivers Payson Burt and Sam Malik earned high enough scores to advance to the Pennsylvania School Bus Drivers Safety Competition in State College in June, the district said.

Other RTSD bus drivers to compete in this year's event were Bob Beverly, Lynn Vanderryt, and Mark Eckler.
"This valuable experience offers a chance [for drivers] to show off skills in various maneuvers and is great for team building, improving morale, promoting safety and networking with other people working within the transit industry," John Hearn, RTSD director of transportation, said in an email. "It is an opportunity for our drivers to kick back and have some fun with family and friends as they show off their incredible skills."

The bus driving competition assesses drivers through a written and practical exam on the vehicle's rules and safety regulations, according to the district.
Participants also navigate an obstacle course that requires completion of basic moves such as making a right turn, backing up, a student drop-off, driving through narrow clearances, a railroad crossing, parallel parking, and other maneuvers, the district said.
