RTSD Comms Team Earns National Award For Wall Of Honor

Congratulations to Radnor Township School District's communications team on winning the national award for the RHS Wall of Honor.

WAYNE, PA – Radnor Township School District's Communications Office recently earned a national honor for its work on Radnor High School's "Wall of Honor," the district announced.

The National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) named the district's communications office a winner of its Golden Achievement Award for it's work on developing and launching the wall.

The wall honors former Radnor High School students who died while serving our country.

Individual flag boxes bearing the names of 57 veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War were included on the wall at its launch, according to the district.

Also included on the wall is an interactive touchscreen where visitors can learn more about each of the inductees through videos made by RHS students; a bronze plaque; and the American and Radnor High School flags.

The Wall of Honor debuted in May 2016 in the high school lobby, the district said.

The Golden Achievement Award honors recipients for outstanding achievement in the four steps of a public relations program:

  1. analysis of the need;
  2. planning to meet the need;
  3. execution and communication of the program;
  4. and formal evaluation.

Each entry is judged individually against these award criteria, the district said.

Radnor was just one of three schools in Pennsylvania to earn the award in 2017.

"The Communications Office is honored to receive this award on behalf of the district," Michael Petitti, the district's Director of Communications, said in a statement. "So many people helped make the Wall of Honor a reality - from teachers, administrators and other staff at RHS and our Central Office, to community members, to local veterans, to alumni. The project was truly a labor of love for all involved. It was my pleasure to be a part of it and help bring attention to our former students who made the ultimate sacrifice."

The honor came to the comms team for helping develop and launch the wall through the creation of a website, print materials and graphics; event planning; promotion and publicity; fundraising; and media and community relations, the district said.

Congratulations to the Radnor Township School District Communications Office!
