Sen. Pat Toomey Visits Villanova

Toomey reportedly says he is "unpersuaded" by Donald Trump but did not ruling out voting for him.

Sen. Pat Toomey made his way to Villanova Tuesday, where he and Sen. Susan Collin (R-Maine) spoke to suburban woman, who have been called one of the state's most important voting blocs, according to Associated Press reports.

As footage from 2005 surfaced Friday of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump making lewd comments about women, Toomey said Tuesday that Trump's comments are "indefensible and appalling," and that Trump has not persuaded him to "be an enthusiastic supporter," AP reports. Toomey did not rule out voting for Trump, according to AP.

Toomey sought Collins – who AP called a moderate, soft spoken Republican – to help paint him as a legislator who will fight for sensible gun control, such as expanded background checks, while still upholding the Second Amendment as Democrat Katie McGinty makes her bid to supplant the incumbent Toomey as Pennsylvania's U.S. senator, according to AP.

At a press conference in Philadelphia, McGinty said Toomey is "talking out of both sides of his mouth" regarding gun control and has attacked Toomey for his lack of repudiation of Trump, AP reports.
