Sports For College Or For Fun: A Discussion At Radnor Middle School
A Villanova professor and youth sports coach will discuss potential dangers of focusing on kids playing sports for college, not fun.

The Radnor Memorial Library is presenting a free discussion Tuesday at the Radnor Middle School that will focus on potential dangers of children playing sports for college, not for fun.
Villanova University sociology professor and long-time Radnor youth sports coach Rick Eckstein will speak at the event and hold a discussion following the lecture.
"Families are pouring countless dollars into youth sports under the exaggerated belief that it will pay off with significant college scholarships or admissions advantages into elite universities," the event description reads. "In his new book, 'How College Athletics are Hurting Girl’s Sports,' Eckstein excoriates this expensive and misleading pay to play youth sports system."
