State Orders Radnor Officials To Turn Over Emails: Report

Radnor officials must turn over emails to a resident who requested them following a ruling by the state Office of Records, according to Main Line Media News.
The emails in question represent correspondence sent among members of Radnor’s Stormwater Advisory Committee, discussing committee business. The resident requesting the records was Maya van Rossum, also known as the Delaware Riverkeeper, who had been a member of the stormwater committee before she left in favor of acting as an outside watchdog, the news report said.
The committee, whose members are appointed by township board of commissioners, reviews stormwater projects and chooses how to spend the proceeds of Radnor’s stormwater fees, which total $1 million annually, according to the report.
Radnor officials had argued the emails should remain private, as they contained “pre-decisional deliberations.” However, the Office of Records agreed with van Rossum’s contention that the township failed to show that the emails protected by “pre-decisional deliberations.”
