Summer Art Camp at Wayne Art Center

12 Weeks of creative fun for kids 3-16! Early Enrollment Discount ends Friday - REGISTER NOW!

Summer Art Camp at Wayne Art Center - Art in America!

Over twelve one-week sessions, we will dive into different aspects of what makes America special. We will “pop” through the 1960s to learn about pop artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. We will explore the rugged and beautiful American landscape, from the beaches of the East Coast to the mesas of the Southwest, and the redwood forests of the Pacific Northwest, to learn about landscape painting, folk art, and site-specific artwork. Campers will also have the opportunity to make their own Hollywood magic, create food-inspired art as American as apple pie and hamburgers, play around with sports, and much more! We hope you will be able to join us this summer on our amazing cross-country adventure.

Week 2: June 8-12 / Morning: 9:30AM-Noon Afternoon: 12:30-3:00PM

Weekly Theme - Heroes of Sport!

From American football, to baseball ‘the great American pastime’, join us this week as we are inspired by our favorite sports heroes and teams. Learn to draw caricatures of your favorite player, and tips and techniques to create the illusion of movement in art. Traditional sports not your thing? There are other leisure activities that will get you moving, including: dance, yoga & theater – be inspired by them all!

The Wayne Art Center strives to offer the highest quality of full and half-day classes suited to every age and level of artistic ability each summer as part of the Art Camp experience. Pre-school programs help young artists ages 3-6 to develop their love of art and experience a wide variety of mediums in small classes in our fun and creative spaces! Dynamic classes for children ages 6-12 focus on building upon foundational skills in drawing, painting, cartooning, ceramics, cooking, jewelry, fashion design... and more! For our teen artists (ages 13 and older), we offer new classes each year designed both to improve core skills and expand students’ creative repertoire, including weaving, glass bead making, stained glass, jewelry and metal fabrication, sculpture and photography.

All of our talented instructors are certified teachers and/or professional artists who love helping children to develop their natural creative instincts in a caring and nurturing environment. Whatever your child’s interests, we hope that you will make the Summer Art Camp part of your schedule this year! For more information on the 2015 Summer Art Camp season, please visit our website at www.wayneart.org or call Carolyn Grayshaw, Children’s Program Director, at 610-688-3553 ext. 208.
