Temporary Public Works Worker Sought In Radnor Township

Do you know someone who could use some extra money and has the skills needed to work a public works job? This could be right for them.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA – Radnor Township is looking to bring on a temporary worker to its public works crew and applications are being accepted now.

The job entails heavy manual labor, including collecting trash and recyclables, leaf collection, and assistance with Highway Department and Parks Maintenance Department crews.

The position reports to the Refuse Department Supervisor and requires the ability to occasionally exercise independent judgment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED with one year of experience in related work. Candidates with some mechanical skills will be preferred.

Duties include:

  • various unskilled and semi-skilled tasks related to refuse collection, construction, repair and maintenance of grounds, equipment and facilities in Township;
  • collecting household solid waste, recycling materials, leaves and refuse as assigned;
  • and performing related duties as required.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact courteously with the public and fellow employees, to understand and follow specific oral instructions, and to learn collection routes.

The job requires walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, kneeling, lifting and carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds. Occasionally the lifting of objects up to 100 pounds is required. Ability to use both right and left hands and fingers for grasping, repetitive motions and fine manipulation

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

The ability to talk, hear, and walk without assistance is also required.

Additionally, candidates must be able to report to work and perform required duties five days a week for a minimum of eight hours per day, as well as respond to after hour emergencies as required. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
