Thousands Will Walk for the Wounded on May 19

The 5th annual event will be held at Rose Tree Park in Media.

Family, friends and neighbors from Haverford Township and the rest of the Delaware Valley will come together at on Saturday, May 19, for the 5th Annual Walk for the Wounded. During the event, wounded soldiers will be recognized and funds will be raised to help them and their families with personal and financial needs.

The family-friendly event features military displays, a food court, children’s activities, and a car and motorcycle show.

DJ Mike Vogel will spin patriotic tunes, and live bands will take to the stage later in the day. The music festival includes Carmen Magro, Leroy Hawkes & The Hypnotics, Lil Rock, and Brian Fitzgerald.

Wounded heroes will be escorted to the walk starting line by motorcycle club riders. Thousands of participants will then walk three miles along Rose Tree Park.

Special celebrity guests include NBC 10 anchor Tracy Davidson, Comcast SportsNet anchor Michael Barkann, and the Phillie Phanatic.

The Walk for the Wounded is presented by Operation First Response (OFR). OFR’s mission is to support our nation’s wounded warriors and their families with personal and financial needs, from the onset of injury, to their reestablishment into the civilian world. To date, the event has raised
$608,000.
