Tree Planting, Sidewalk Repair Project Underway In Wayne

WAYNE, PA — Radnor Township is undertaking a resurfacing and tree planting project in the Wayne section of the township and it's underway now.

About 40 trees and their stumps will be removed and 66 size and specimen appropriate trees will take their place in the Lancaster Avenue and North/South Wayne avenue area.

Additionally, pavement repairs and beautification work will be done in the area after some sidewalks cracked and buckled due to inappropriately sized trees.

Later in the project there will also be the addition of ADA compliant ramps and the widening of parking spots for ease of access in the Wayne Business Overlay District corridor.

This first two weeklong phases of the project includes tree removal, stump grinding, and filling.

The public should be mindful of minor impacts on traffic and sidewalks.

The current schedule is as follows and is weather permitted:

Week of Sept 9:

• Sept. 9 – Tree removal to impact the entire stretch of northwest side of Lancaster Avenue moving from west to east as well as first half of northwest side of Wayne Avenue moving from South to North
• Sept. 10- Tree removal to impact the second half of northwest side of Wayne Avenue moving from south to north
• Sept. 11- Tree removal to impact the entire northeast side of Wayne Avenue moving from north to south
• Sept. 12- Tree removal to impact the entire northeast side of Lancaster Avenue moving from west to east. This will require a lane closure on Lancaster Avenue for the removal of these trees.
• Sept. 13- Tree removal to impact first half of southeast side of Lancaster Avenue moving from east to west

Week of Sept. 16:

• Sept. 16- Tree removal to impact second half of southeast side of Lancaster Avenue moving from east to west
• Sept. 17- Tree removal to impact southeast side of Wayne Avenue moving from north to south as well trees on West Wayne Avenue
• Sept. 18- Tree removal to impact southwest side of Wayne Avenue
• Sept. 19- Excavate and install planting soil tree pits to impact northwest side of Lancaster Avenue working from west to east
• Sept. 20- Excavate and install planting soil tree pits to impact northwest side of Wayne Avenue working from south to north
