Water Main Break In Villanova Causes Icy Situation

The break occurred overnight and has caused a heavy build up of ice in the area as well as closed a road. Crews are working to on the issue.

VILLANOVA, PA – A water main broke on Woodfield Road between Montgomery Avenue and Ivywood Lane in the Villanova section of Lower Merion Township overnight Thursday. The break has caused a heavy build up of ice on Montgomery Avenue and closed Woodfield Road, officials said.

Aqua PA officials said said a 6-inch cast iron water main broke at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Water service was shut down at 3:30 a.m. and service was restored by 6 a.m., Aqua officials said.

Aqua PA and township crews are working at the Gulph Creek Pump Station to fix the issue, which has affected a sanitary sewer line, the township said.

Aqua said there were only three to five customers that were affected by the break.
