Wayne Native And Radnor Grad Added To Delco's Armed Services Tribute Board
U.S. Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade Galen Fisher has been deployed since 2013 and serves on the USS Makin Island.
Delaware County Council honored U.S. Navy Lt. Junior Grade Galen Fisher by having her family place her photograph on the Armed Services Tribute Board in a ceremony on Nov. 30.
Council welcomed her parents Carter and Nancy Fisher of Wayne to the Government Center to post Lieutenant Fisher’s photo on the Armed Services Tribute Board displayed in the lobby, the county said.
“As we go about our daily lives, it’s easy to forget that brave men and women continue to risk their lives every day to keep us safe here at home. Delaware County is committed to remembering and to supporting our troops until they are safely home,” County Council Chairman Mario J. Civera Jr. said in a statement. “One way we honor our troops is by posting their photo on the Armed Services Tribute Board and by recognizing their families. Today we recognize Navy Lt. j.g. Galen Fisher.”

Fisher grew up in Wayne and is a graduate of Radnor High School. In 2013 Lieutenant Fisher graduated from The United States Naval Academy as an officer in the Navy, according to the county. Lieutenant Fisher has been deployed since 2013 and is now serving on the USS Makin Island. This past July, she received her Naval Surface Warfare Supply Officer qualification, the county said.
The Armed Services Tribute Board recognizes Delaware County’s courageous men and women who are actively serving in the military, according to the county. It offers an opportunity for residents and County employees to recognize members of the military and to write to them to show support, the county said.

Delaware County residents who have family members actively serving in the military are invited to submit a 4-by-6 inch color photograph of the individual, along with the soldier’s name, town of residency and their official military address to The Public Relations Department, Room 226A, Delaware County Government Center, 201 W. Front St., Media, PA 19063.
