The Wayne Senior Center to Host "The Great War and the 21st Century"

The Next in a Series of Presentations to Encourage Lifelong Learning for All Ages

Everyone is invited to the Wayne Senior Center on Wednesday, May 13 at 10 a.m. for a free MindMatters presentation.  The hour-long informative lecture titled “The Great War and the 21st Century” will be given by Carl Strikwerda, a 20th century historian and president of Elizabethtown College.  The production will be streamed over high-speed internet by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and WITF, Harrisburg’s Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio affiliate.

The presentation examines how the first World War shaped the 20th century as well as our current century.  A live question-and-answer session will follow the lecture to give attendees the opportunity to submit questions to Strikwerda for real-time video discussion.

MindMatters is a free monthly lecture series featuring knowledgeable presenters discussing intellectually stimulating topics of interest.  It is presented by the Department of Aging and produced by WITF.  Next in the series is “Flying the Big Jets” on Wednesday, June 10 at 10 a.m.  The presenter will be Lou Thieblemont, a retired TWA and American Airlines pilot and a professional speaker.
