Winter Educational Programs at Wayne Art Center

Over 200 classes in fine arts, ceramics, jewelry, culinary arts and special media for children & adults at all levels of ability

The weather is getting colder, but the Wayne Art Centers state-of-the art studios are warm and cozy, and ready to welcome you back for a NEW session of classes starting Monday, January 11th. Students of all ages can develop their skills in the fine arts, pottery, jewelry making, cooking, music and more. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available Monday through Friday, with classes and special workshops in all media scheduled on Saturdays and select Sundays throughout the season.

Adults and teens 16+ can learn to work with new media or expand their artistic knowledge in any of the more than 65 classes offered this winter session. Those looking for a quick fix can enroll in an art workshop, sit in on culinary demo, or stop by to hear a HomeGrown lecture. This session we will be welcoming several NEW teachers to our studios including Stefanie Lieberman who will be teaching The Fundamentals of Oil Painting and Roger Chavez offering Drawing: The Journey Starts Here, as well as a full program of classes by returning instructors. Special guest workshop instructors for the winter 2016 include: Valerie Craig, Jon Redmond, Mary Moquin, Kathleen Jacobs and Mark Boedges (two-time Wayne Plein Air Festival Best of Show Winner).

For children ages 2 through 15, we offer a creative curriculum of age-appropriate classes in drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry, cooking, and drama. This winter we are introducing lots of new classes, including Art of the Masters – fine art and drawing skills for ages 8 & up on Monday evenings, and Functional Art & Design – a dynamic and fun afterschool multimedia class for ages 7 & up, as well as welcoming back old favorites such as Two for Art, Creative Drama and Pottery Club. For families who do not have room in their schedules for a full 10 week class, we offer many workshops and family programs on select Saturdays throughout the session including: Mom & Daughter Jewelry, Family Day of Clay, and our always popular Paint Like the Masters series.
