Join us for an exciting evening of opera as DVOC presents Gluck's revolutionary work, Orfeo Ed Euridice, based on the Greek myth of Orpheus and his journey in the underworld to rescue the woman he loves.
Opera in the mid 18th century was often puffed up with drawn out, convoluted plots, and overly complex music. Gluck wanted to strip all of that away, and present an elegant, simple blend of drama and music that didn't rely on these affectations.
The result is one of his most famous works, first performed in 1762, and still listed in the top 50 most frequently performed operas worldwide.
Free street parking is available. The Perch is convenient via train, including the subway from Somerset Station on the Market-Frankford Line and the York-Dauphin Station, both of which are accessible from 30th Street Station.
