Book Signing? Murdered Innocence the Maryann Mitchell Murder Revisited

This is the last pre-Christmas book signing by local author Donna Persico of her book Murdered Innocence: The Maryann Mitchell Murder Revisited.

The work is  a theory regarding the 1959 murder of 16 year old Maryann who lived in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.  It is based on actual events.  On September 1, 1960 Elmo Smith was sentenced to death by electrocution for the brutal murder.  On April 2, 1962 the sentence was carried out.  The 41 year old convicted murderer was put to death. He was the last of 350 men and woman to be executed in the electric chair chair in the state of Pennsylvania.

In the theory Persico asks,"Was Justice blind in this case?  Does the possibiliy exist that Elmo Smith was made to fit the crime?
