Manayunk's Stroll The Street Kicks Off With Neighbor, Movie Night

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA – Another summer of weeknight fun begins in Manayunk, as the beloved Stroll the Street event series kicks off in the neighborhood.

From 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each Thursday this summer, Main Street Manayunk will come alive with a new theme, different food trucks, and live music for Stroll the Street.

The fun begins Thursday, Jun 7 with a "Meet Your Neighbor" theme and a showing of the hit kids movie "Zootopia" on Cotton Street. Bring your own chair and blankets to enjoy the movie.

During Stroll the Street nights, Manayunk retailers and restaurants will also hold in-store shopping events and $6 cocktails and appetizers.

Stroll the Street will host two activation sites: Cotton Street between Main and Cresson Streets, and Canal View Park, 4418 Main St. The park will feature free outdoor yoga with JTown Hot Yoga, live music, and additional food vendors each week.

"We’re thrilled to be bringing Stroll the Street back for a third summer in a row," said Jane Lipton, Executive Director of the Manayunk Development Corporation (MDC). "We’ve been finding that our neighborhood — from long-time residents to young families — really enjoy coming out and celebrating summer with their neighbors. We’ve gradually been making it bigger and better with each year."

Highlights from the Stroll the Street series include four additional movie nights, including screenings of "The Secret Life of Pets" during Pet Night on June 28, "Wonder Woman" during Superhero Night on July 19, "Elf" during Christmas in July Night on July 26, and "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off" during Throwback Thursday Night on August 23.

Other notable Stroll the Street themes include Art en Plein Air Night on June 21, Fitness Night on July 5, and Open Mic Night on August 9.
