Roxborough Dominates in Season Opener

The Indians cruise in their season opener against the overmatched Edison Owls.

The football team defeated the Edison Owls 41-6 on Friday afternoon at Edison. The Indians controlled the game from the opening kickoff, quickly establishing the running game and balancing their attack with a solid passing performance from quarterback, Nick Butts.

IN SHORT—Roxborough opened the game dominating the line of scrimmage and running effectively. The Indians marched down the field where Butts found Adrian Johnson-Pope, senior tight end, for an 18-yard touchdown reception. With the defense forcing a punt, the Indians, once again, developed the running game. Running back Tymere Blue would eventually punch the ball in from the 1-yard line. The Indians would tack on two more touchdowns, leading 26-0 after the first half of play.

The Indians would continue to control the second half. Punt returner, Dre'von Williams had a huge runback to open Roxborough's second half possession. Blue would finish the attack with a 33-yard rushing touchdown. The defense would then slam the door on the Owls, allowing only six points.
