Roxborough Takes First Loss In Double OT
In a defensive struggle, Franklin scored the only points of the game in double overtime.
The Roxborough Indians (3-1) lost to the Franklin Electrons (1-3) 6-0 on Friday afternoon in Roxborough. In a defensive stalemate, Franklin scored in double overtime, leaving the Indians with their first lost of the year.
IN SHORT
After an opening 40-yard kick return from Adrian Johnson-Pope, the Indians were unable to move the ball effectively down the field. However, their defense would match Franklin, forcing a three and out on the following drive. Senior running back Tymere Blue was able to convert a few first downs in the first half, but the offense would not click, stalling on several drives. The defense kept the Indians in the game, spearheaded by an interception by DeAndre Harriot to keep the game knotted at zero going into halftime.

The second half was more of the same for both teams. Turnovers and penalties set both teams back, with their defenses controlling the game. After a fumble from quarterback Nick Butts resulted in a return to the Roxborough 4-yard line, the Electrons were presented with a golden opportunity. However, the Roxborough defense answered the call, stopping Franklin on 4th and goal with a Dre'von Williams tackle at the 1-yard line. After four quarters of play, the game was still undecided, forcing overtime.
In the first OT, Roxborough forced a fumble, recovered by Adrian Johnson-Pope, but the offense could not connect on a 33-yard field goal attempt. In the second overtime, Franklin was able to score on a 4-yard quarterback draw up the middle. Roxborough would have a chance to tie or win, but could not convert on 4th and goal from the 4/yard line.

INDIAN OF THE GAME
DeAndre Harriot- The senior cornerback accounted for three of the Indians four interceptions on the day.
OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Dre'von Williams- The senior wide receiver and cornerback made a tremendous interception deep in Roxborough territory to keep the game tied.
Dante Huggins- Senior defensive end, Huggins made several tackles in the backfield, including two huge sacks at the end of the 4th quarter.
COACH'S TAKE- "We were playing with a wet field, so it was tough to move the ball. We have a lot of athletic kids on the team, and the wet field took a lot away from us." Head Coach Mike Stanley
