The Philadelphia region was in a frenzy during the commute Wednesday morning after much of SEPTA's Regional Rail fleet was taken offline.
The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia touted the importance of commuters biking to work on their website, posting a "how-to" guide for those affected by the SEPTA shut down.
The Coalition pointed to their regional bike lane map to help commuters plan their trips. Cyclists should also take advantage of the extensive trail system in the suburbs, such as the Circuit Trails itineraries for Chester Valley Trail and Schuylkill River Trail.

Commuters can also use alternative SEPTA transportation options such as the High Speed Line and bus system.
SEPTA said Tuesday that defects were found in their fleet of 120 Silverliner V Railroad cars, which led to their immediate removal from service.

It's unclear when SEPTA will return to full service, but officials suggested that the cars would come back online as they were repaired throughout the summer.
