Beat the Heat with Free or Low-cost Family Summer Movies

Movie theaters in our area offer programs to make a trip to the cinema affordable with little ones in tow.

Every summer, a handful of theaters around the Lehigh Valley offer free or discounted summer movie series for children and parents. What better way to catch a flick, beat the heat AND save some dollars?

Here are two nearby theaters offering free or low-cost summer programs:

Rave Motion Pictures

Every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. beginning June 21 the Rave offers FREE screenings. The final showing is on August 10.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Movies start at 10 a.m. Get there early to make sure to get a good seat – these showings fill up FAST!

All movies are rated G or PG. Movie goers receive $1 off Rave Meal Deals.

According to a representative at the theater, Carmike’s Summer Kids’ Series starts on June 23 and runs every Thursday through August 25.

Each show begins at 10 a.m. on Thursdays, but as with the Rave it’s best to get there a little early to assure a good seat. The cost is $1 per person.

A $4 “Kids’ Pack” (popcorn, small drink and small fruit snack) is also offered as a special during these showings.

Please note: AMC and Regal Cinemas no longer offer discounted $1 movies as they have during previous summers. According to a representative at each theater, they had low turnout in past years, and came to the decision to eliminate the program in our area.
