Cockroaches More Popular Than Congress

So just how unpopular is Congress these days?

Even before the government shutdown, the public already considered federal lawmakers less likable than cockroaches and colonoscopies. 

A Public Policy Polling survey earlier this year found that respondents consider Congress less favorably than: 

• Head lice
• Root canals
• Canadian rock band Nickleback
• Colonoscopies
• Used-car salesmen
• Traffic jams 
• Brussels sprouts

It’s not all bad news for Congress, though. Americans surveyed do prefer Congress to telemarketers, lobbyists, gonorrhea and the Kardashians.

Only 9 percent of those surveyed had a favorable opinion of Congress. A whopping 85 percent had an unfavorable view of Congress.
