Does Your Dialect Give Away Your Roots?
A New York Times quiz, based on Harvard data, says it can predict where you're from if you answer a few basic questions.

Answer a few questions for The New York Times and it will tell you where youβre from, the newspaper says.
The dialect quiz asks 25 questions, and at the end tells you where youβre likely from, based on your responses. The multiple-choice questions may include:
- How do you address a group of two or more people?
- How do you pronounce Mary/merry/marry?
- What do you call sweetened carbonated beverages?
- What do you call rubber-soled shoes worn in gym class?
The quiz is based on work done in 2002 by Bert Vaux and Scott Golder for Harvard Universityβs Dialect Survey.
