LVHN Names New Chief Financial Officer

Ed O'Dea has been named the new chief financial officer at , the company announced today. O'Dea has served as interim CFO since September 2011 after Joseph G. Felkner resigned after serving nearly two years in the position.

O’Dea will develop LVHN’s financial direction and oversight of all fiscal responsibilities.

“Ed’s skilled and thoughtful leadership approach made him the top choice after a national search,” said Ron Swinfard, MD, LVHN’s president and chief executive officer said in a news statement.

“He has the tools and experience to help LVHN successfully navigate the financial complexities of health care reform.”

O’Dea joined the health network in 1991 and served as controller, then vice president of finance prior to becoming .

Over the years, he’s actively participated in LVHN’s financial strategy and led the health network’s treasury functions, according to the news statement. He also helped to co-lead the health network’s move of nearly 1,000 administrative colleagues into the former Mack Trucks World Headquarters in south Allentown starting in August 2010.

O’Dea is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Prior to joining LVHN, O’Dea served as assistant controller and accounting manager at Ametek Corporation, a senior cost accountant at Honeywell Corporation and a senior and staff accountant at Perdue Farms.

O’Dea earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University and his MBA in Finance from St. Joseph’s University.
