Family: Married 33 years to Jane Fischer, Children: Sara and Lauren.  We have resided in Salisbury Township since 1986 and our children were educated in the Salisbury Schools.

• BS Engineering:  Temple University
• MBA: DeSales University
• Graduate Teaching Certification:  Temple University

Tell us about your professional/business background:

• Current:  Grant Writer
• Previous: 30 years as engineer at AT&T Bell Labs / Western Electric / Lucent / Agere
• 7th and 8th grade Math Teacher

Why are you running for school board?  

I am running for the school board to use my knowledge and experience to continue the educational excellence of the STSD through the current challenging economic and political environment.

What qualifies you to serve on the board?

I have a unique combination of education and experience in technology, business, and education.  This experience gives me a broad understanding of educational issues inside the schools and what colleges and business need from our students.

What do you see as the board's primary role and responsibilities?

The primary role of the school board is to provide quality educational programs and opportunities for the students of the district in a fiscally responsible manner.

Tell us about 3 major challenges facing the school district and how you would address them. (Please be as specific as possible):

1. Maintaining quality educational programs our schools in an environment of decreasing state funding and increasing unfunded mandates.

2. Managing spending to insure that available funds are used efficiently to fund the core goals of the district.

3. Adopt policies and procedures to insure a positive and safe educational environment.

How much are you spending to run? How is your campaign being funded?

My only expenditures to date have been the required filing fees.  The fees were funded out of pocket.  I am not seeking campaign donations.

What, if any, endorsements have you received?

In order to remain independent, I choose not to seek the endorsement of interest groups.  I seek the endorsement of the voters and will work with all groups to best serve the needs of the students and citizens of Salisbury Township.
