Patch Picks: Oscar Winners That Have Not Stood The Test Of Time

It's Oscar Week at Salisbury Patch and we're taking no prisoners

1. BEST PICTURE, 1941: "HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY"

This is less about "HGWMV" and more about what it beat out, "Citizen Kane," the film most commonly lauded as the best of all time.

2. BEST ORIGINAL SONG, 1971: "THEME FROM "SHAFT"  BY ISAAC HAYES, FROM THE FILM, "SHAFT"

I know this is a solid example of fresh '70s beats, but it's hard to listen to without giggling.

3. BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN 1995: MIRA SORVINO, FOR "MIGHTY APHRODITE"

The actress went on to star in many a meaningful film after her win. Films such as "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion," and ... wait ...

4. BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR, 1996: CUBA GOODING JR., FOR "JERRY MAGUIRE"

This great actor suffered the same ill fate as our dear Mira. "Boat Trip," "Norbit," "Daddy Day Camp." Fail, fail, fail.

5. BEST ORIGINAL SONG, 2006: "IT'S HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP" BY JORDAN HOUSTON, CEDRIC COLEMAN AND PAUL BEAUREGARD, FROM THE FILM, "HUSTLE & FLOW"

Try explaining that one to future generations.
