Personnel Committee for December, 2013

As I start this column, I must thank the readers for appreciating what I write. This column is becoming tougher to write as the months go on, which is why I took a short hiatus recently. Many top administrators in Salisbury have attempted to guess my true identity and expose me. Some have even tempted me with more official means to continue this column. Although some have come quite close, no one has found out conclusively who I am. They won't for quite a while. My view is that this column will merely be the administrators opinions disguised as journalism if I come clean.    

This month: a learning support teacher extended her leave through the end of the school year, a custodian was transferred with her hours slightly increased, an instructional assistant transferred for only the second time this school year, a teacher will take a sabbatical leave next year, two teachers took FMLA leaves, a mentor was picked for a recently hired Chemistry Teacher, and two volunteer girls basketball coaches were picked. 

Mrs. Meghan Ott, a Learning Support Teacher at Harry S. Truman Elementary School; has taken an extended general leave of absence through the end of the 2012-2013 school year. In December 2012, she took an FMLA while she was a 6th Grade Learning Support Teacher at Salisbury Middle School. That expired in February 2013 and she has been under a general leave of absence ever since. In August 2013, she was transferred to Truman when Mrs. Diane Kasaczun was made I.S.T. Teacher there after the retirement of Mrs. Mary Roeding. Mrs. Melissa Cerco has had her Long Term Subsitute position extended accordingly; it would've expired in mid-January 2014 otherwise.

Mrs. Mona Nadraws has been transferred from a 4 hour a day Part-Time Custodian at the Administration Building to a 4.75 hours a day Part-Time Custodian at the Administration Building and Salisbury High School retroactive to October 1, 2013. She was originally hired in July 2008, but it is unknown where in the district she was hired.

Mrs. Diane Walbert has been transferred from a 4.5 hour a day Part-Time One-on-One Instructional Assistant at Salisbury Middle School to a 4.5 hour a day Part-Time One-on-One Instructional Assistant at Salisbury High School. Up until this school year, she had been a longtime Learning Support, Lunch/Recess, and One-on-One Instructional Assistant at Western Salisbury Elementary School.

Mrs. Allison Moyer is taking a sabbatical leave for professional development during the first semester of the 2014-2015 school year. She has worked as an teacher in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade at Western Salisbury Elementary School since 2003. 

Mrs. Michaele Hippauf, the reading specialist at Western Salisbury Elementary School; took an FMLA leave for up to 60 days effective on November 25th, 2013. 

Mrs. Catherine Yurconic, the 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Salisbury Middle School; took an FMLA leave for up to 60 days effective on January 3, 2014.

Mrs. Ruth Smith is mentoring Mrs. Sarah Wascura for 14 hours. Mrs. Wascura is the newly hired Chemistry Teacher at Salisbury High School.

Mr. Michael Garrigan and Mr. Marc Eripret are returning volunteer assistant girls' basketball coaches. Eripret has been an assistant coach since the 2011 season, although he was only paid his first season and has volunteered since. Garrigan has been a volunteer assistant coach since the 2012 season. He is also the Vice-President of the Salisbury Township School District Girls Basketball Booster Club.
