Salisbury Swim Teams Place Second in District 11 2A Championship
Record-breaking performances, many will advance to states
Salisbury High School's boys and girls swim teams each placed second in the District 11 2A swimming championship last weekend and had a number of outstanding record-breaking performances. Many of the swimmer will advance to the state championship.
The girls relay team finished first in both the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays and broke district records in both events.
One of the event's highlights was junior Katie Cialkowski, who captured two individual gold medals, including one in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.47. Cialkowski also won two golds in the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays. The relay team is composed of Cialkowski and seniors Emily Baumert, Taylor Gonoude and Gabby Guttman. Each member of the relay team, as well as sophomore Danielle Guttman, qualified for states, where they will have a chance to compete in their individual events.

Salisbury's girls team placed second with 289 points, despite their eight-member team being outnumbered by first-place finisher Southern Lehigh, which has 24 swimmers who amassed 490 points, a meet best.
For the Salisbury boys, sophomore Eric Tatum placed second in the 100-yard freestyle, edged out by three-tenths of a second by Southern Lehigh's Riley Geis. After the 200-yard individual medley, the boys' score was 74 points. Their score ascended to 171 points after taking third place in the 100-yard freestyle and then climbed to 250 points and second place after the 100-yard backstroke.

The boys 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relay team will be joining the girls in states in the same events.
The boys team finished second with 288 points to first-place finisher Southern Lehigh's 436 points.
