Winter Storm 'Titan' About To Slam Pennsylvania: Be Prepared

What could be the strongest winter storm of the season will impact eastern Pennsylvania on Monday, with upward of 10 inches of snow and ice.

The storm has been dubbed "Titan" by the Weather Channel, which has taken to naming winter storms this season.

While high temperatures on Sunday will be in the mid 40's, cold air will rush into the area Sunday night and temperatures should be at or below freezing by midnight on Sunday and will remain below freezing until Wednesday. 

The following weather conditions are expected for this storm: 

On Sunday, cloudy and mild with light rain starting by sunset. Temperatures will quickly fall during the evening and should be at or below freezing by midnight. 

On Monday, rain will quickly change over to a wintry mix and to all snow prior to sunrise. A couple inches of snow and ice possible by sunrise on Monday. Heavy snow will end Monday evening. Snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches is possible,  with localized greater amounts. Winds will gust up to 25 mph, causing blowing and drifting of the snow. 

Near-record setting cold air will enter the area Monday night as nighttime lows will be around 5 degrees with wind chills below zero. 

Local officials are urging residents to monitor weather forecasts over the weekend. While there is always some uncertainty regarding exact timing and amount of snow, there is "no question" that a major winter storm will impact the area on Monday, the National Weather Service reports.

A winter storm watch will be in place from 6 p.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday.

Many towns are advising that residents plan now to remove all street-parked vehicles off the roadways by Sunday evening. Once the storm begins, please stay off the roads if possible. This will allow for emergency vehicles to respond to call for service and for better plowing conditions.
