Celebrating Everyday Heroes

Although members of Westfield Hospital's clincial team, these two special individuals spend their non-working hours as volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics.

Two of Westfield Hospital's clinical staff members are being awarded with the 2012 St. Luke's University Hospital Trauma Hero award for their actions as first responders.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Arts Quest Center at Steel Stacks, Nathan Thomas, EMT and Barbara Gibson, Paramedic will be honored at the Annual Night of Heroes. The event will highlight the many successes of individuals who played important roles in trauma cases.

A Trauma Team consists of a group of multi-skilled individuals with a unique level of commitment and dedication to caring for injured patients. Barb and Nathan were a part of a team that cared for a seventeen year old boy who was critically injured in a vehicle accident in January, 2011.
