
In step with Fire Prevention Month, fire companies in South Whitehall are opening their doors to the public.
The open houses are an opportunity for South Whitehall families to meet the volunteers who provide fire protection to the community and check out fire trucks and other equipment.
Greenawalds Fire Company will host its Open House from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the station, 2500 Focht Ave. (Note: The hours were changed because of a scheduling conflict.) Medevac is expected to arrive around 12:30 p.m. for the event.
Woodlawn Fire Department, 1651 Whitehall Ave., will hold its Open House from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday. There will be fire displays and refreshments.
Cetronia Fire Department posted on its Facebook page that volunteers are visiting daycare centers, pre-schools, and elementary schools to teach youngsters firsthand about fire safety.
