Man Who Aimed Car at South Whitehall Cop Gets Jail Time

A Lehigh County Judge sentenced William Lee Blake to 18 months to 5 years in jail, according to court records.

An Allentown man, who South Whitehall police say tried to  an officer, has been sentenced to 18 months to five years in prison, according to online court records.

William Lee Blake, 34, received his sentence earlier in June from Lehigh County Judge Robert Steinberg.

Blake had been involved in a domestic dispute Aug. 11, 2011 in which he used a lawn chair to smash windows at the home of his girlfriend, Jessica Snyder of Shiloh Court in South Whitehall, according to township police. He eluded police, who were in pursuit, and later attempted to hit an officer on foot in the area, police had said.

In a negoiated plea, Blake pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another person and attempting to elude a police officer, records show. Other felony charges, including aggravated assault of a police officer and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, had been withdrawn.   

Blake told the court at his sentencing that he had come to realize that he has anger and substance abuse problems, according to a report on lehighvalleylive.com. "What I did was ungodly," Blake said, according to the report. "I could've hurt a lot of people at the time, and I could've hurt myself."
