Parkland Marching Band Wins First Place in Parade
The newly expanded Parkland High School Marching Band wins a top honor in Allentown's Halloween parade earlier this month.
's took a top honor in Allentown's Halloween Parade earlier this month.
In the band category, Parkland High School took first place, followed by Dieruff High School in second place and Harrison-Morton middle school in third place.
The parade, which marched down Hamilton Street in Allentown, was originally scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30, but because of the snowstorm that weekend, it was postponed to Nov. 6.

Nine divisions of marchers and floats made their way past on-lookers, which city officials estimated to be in the thousands. The parade started at the Allentown Fairgrounds and concluded at Seventh and Hamilton streets.
In addition to the marching bands, parade participants included dance groups, civic and professional organizations, auto clubs and floats.

Civic leaders were among those judging each performance at the Parade Reviewing Stand at 12th and Hamilton streets.
Gress Mountain Ranch in Orefield also placed first in the Marchers category.
