Thursday in South Whitehall: King George Inn Meeting, Ballroom Dancing

Showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday, Sept. 12, in South Whitehall, mainly after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to reach a high near 87.
Here's what's going on in and around South Whitehall Township:
- Those interested in saving the King George Inn in South Whitehall will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday to discuss ways to save the historic structure from demolition. Erin Hammerstedt, field representative for Preservation Pennsylvania, will make a brief presentation on potential alternatives for the inn and lead a discussion on potential financial resources for saving the building. The meeting will be held at the Lehigh County Heritage Museum, 432 W.Walnut St., Allentown.
- Beginning Ballroom Dance classes will begin Thursday at the Covered Bridge Park recreation building (Wehr Dam Hall). The eight classes will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Class registration closed Wednesday.
- Parkland High School will host its Open House at 7 p.m. Thursday.
- The Parkland High School golf team will host Nazareth in Lehigh Valley Conference match at 2:30 p.m.
- The Parkland Community Library will hold a Thursday seminar on raising fiscally responsible kids, hosted by Marie Maritch of Magellan Financial. Call 610-398-1361 to RSVP.
