1. Restaurant inspections from Monroe County, Sept. 14-20 (centredaily.com) — Several Stroudsburg spots, including Thai Chang on North Ninth Street, passed recent state food inspections, though some needed fixes for issues like sanitizer levels, pests, and plumbing. Other local favorites such as Aldi, Rooster's Meat Barn, Snydersville Golf Range, Triplets Family Restaurant, and Bovino's Brewery recorded zero violations during mid-September checks.
2. How much rain did the nor'easter bring to the Lehigh Valley? Totals from around the region (mcall.com) — Stroudsburg picked up 1.13 inches of rain from the weekend nor'easter, according to National Weather Service data, putting it near the higher end of local totals. The storm hit coastal New Jersey much harder, but these numbers show how Monroe County compared with nearby Lehigh and Northampton counties.
3. Fourth suspect in stabbing investigation arrested (2822news.com) — Police say a fourth suspect has surrendered in connection with a stabbing during a multi-person fight on Main Street in Stroudsburg Borough. Stroud Area Regional Police report the victim, from East Stroudsburg, was treated for arm and back wounds, and several men now face charges ranging from simple assault to attempted criminal homicide.
4. Stroudsburg animal shelter gets approval for expansion (2822news.com) — Stroudsburg's AWSOM Animal Shelter has secured zoning approval to expand its facility, promising more space and better care for local dogs and cats. The project, targeted for completion by the end of 2027, will add new dog and cat rooms, an FIV cat area, and a dedicated medical intake room to better serve Monroe County pets and adopters.
5.
