2 More Berwyn Fire Co. Members Join Relief Efforts In Texas

Three members left for Texas and Louisiana recently to aid Hurricane Harvey relief. Now, two more are joining the efforts. Well done.

BERWYN, PA – Berwyn Fire Company's members continue to show their dedication to public safety, as two more members have traveled to Texas to aid in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

According to the fire company, Captain Evan Brazunas and Firefighter/EMR Mary Ellen Toscani Cleary have joined with Team Rubicon, which pairs skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to deploy emergency response teams in short notice.

While King worked on water rescues – the fire company said between Aug. 28 and Sept. 1 73 people and 43 animals were rescued by Team Rubicon – Brazunas and Cleary are assisting with disaster assessment and disaster relief support.

Last week, longtime career part-time firefighter/EMT Anthony 'A.J.' Pizzi and career part-time firefighter/paramedic James Herb shipped out to Texas and Louisiana, respectively, as well.

Pizzi and Herb are in Louisiana with the Pennsylvania Disaster Medical Assistance Team (PA-DMAT).

PA-DMAT can deploy anywhere in the U.S. as a fully equipped, self-sufficient, mobile field hospital with a complete medical team including physicians, RNs, respiratory therapists, social workers, EMT and paramedics, pharmacists as well as many logistical, communications and support personnel, the fire company said.

We commend all these brave members of the fire company for their commitment to public safety. The Tredyffrin-Easttown community is lucky to have you looking after it.
