332 Responses From Berwyn Fire Company In January

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA – The Berwyn Fire Company handled more than 330 responses in January, according to the fire company's monthly report.
At the Feb. 20 Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meeting, Berwyn Fire Company Chief Eamon Brazunas presented the supervisors with the company's month end report for January.
According to Brazunas, there were 56 fire calls and 149 EMS calls in Tredyffrin, while Easttown township had 34 fire calls and 72 EMS calls.

All together, Tredyffrin, Easttown, and surrounding municipalities had 102 fire calls and 232 EMS calls last month. Of those 232 EMS calls, 165 people were taken to hospitals, Brazunas said.
The average fire response time – which is counted when first fire truck arrives on scene after being dispatched – was eight minutes and 51 seconds, according to the fire company. This includes all fire responses both handled in emergency and non-emergency modes in Tredyffrin, Easttown, and other municipalities, the fire company said.

Brazunas said there was a 28 percent false alarm rate in January but attributed the high percent to frozen pipes in various buildings in the fire company's coverage area.
