3rd Annual Performance Arts Summer Camp at Tredyffrin Public Library
The camp cultivates arts skills and confidence in participants, and gives Conestoga grads a chance to give back.

Tredyffrin, PA -- The Tredyffrin Public Library's Performance Arts Summer Camp is entering its third year.
This year’s theme is Backstage Broadway, organizers said.
In this two-week performance arts musical theatre camp, camp-goers will explore all the workings of a musical production, both in front of and behind the curtain.

Campers will discover the importance of scriptwriting, directing, hair/makeup, costuming, stage combat, choreography and musical directing through mini-lessons and a culminating musical revue.
The Tredyffrin Township Libraries’ performance arts summer camp first and foremost seeks to cultivate performance arts skills, including confidence, in all participants, organizers said.

The program simultaneously provides Conestoga graduates, currently pursuing performance arts, with summer employment in their community as experienced educators in their field of study.
The camp will take place during two different weeks: August 1-5, weekend off, then August 8-12.
The camp is for rising 6th grade through rising 9th grade students.
It will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $250.

Sarah Whelan, a 2015 Conestoga graduate, returns for the second year as teaching artist this season. Sarah is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts in acting and a minor in dance at Boston University. Her previous acting training includes studying with People’s Light and Theatre, The Arden Theatre and completing a summer musical theatre intensive at Syracuse University. At Conestoga, Sarah portrayed Jane in Pride and Prejudice, Miss Dorothy Brown in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Lucy Westphal inDracula and Belle in Beauty and the Beast.
Michael Godfrey, also a 2015 Conestoga graduate, will join Sarah as co-teaching artist. Michael currently attends the University of Pittsburgh as a psychology major and a music minor. He is a member of the University of Pittsburgh’s award-winning all-male a cappella ensemble, Pittch Please, and sings in the Heinz Chapel Choir. Michael has trained with vocal coach, Katherine Mallon-Day and participated in district and regional choirs. During his time at Conestoga High School, Michael portrayed the roles of Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Dracula in Dracula, and The Beast in Beauty and the Beast.
Maria Dell’Orefice, also a 2015 Conestoga graduate, will return as accompanist this summer. Maria attends Baylor University where she majors in piano performance and plays violin in the Baylor Symphony Orchestra. She is the music director and pianist of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Waco, Texas. She has performed at weddings, funerals, and private events, accompanied music ensembles and taught private music lessons to children. Maria has won numerous piano competitions, such as the Crescendo International Piano Competition, the MTNA State Piano Competition for New Jersey, and the Steinway Piano Competition, and has performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall three times as a solo pianist. This past October, Maria performed Ernest Bloch’s Concerto Grosso for piano and orchestra with the Baylor Campus Orchestra.
Sarah and Michael and Maria hope to spread their love for music and theatre to the campers, while making it a safe, fun and enjoyable experience.
