4 Tredyffrin PD Members Promoted To Sergeant, Corporal
Congratulations to sergeants Scott Costa and James Slavin, as well as corporals Michael Cermignano and Richard Gasparo.

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Four member of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department are being promoted Monday night at the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors meeting
At the meeting, two newly promoted sergeants and two newly promoted corporals will be recognized.
A promotional examination process was instituted in July to fill supervisor vacancies within the police department. Eligible corporals and detectives participated in the sergeant selection process while Class-A Officers participated in the Corporal process. The selection process included a written examination, peer review and oral board interviews resulting in the final rankings for each position.

Below are the police being promoted and details of their service:
Sergeant Scott Costa has been with the Tredyffrin Township Police Department for 14 years, serving as a Corporal for the last three years. He is a former member of the Northeast Chester County Emergency Response Team, a Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics and Taser Instructor for the department. He was recognized by the members of the department as our current Officer of the year. Sergeant Costa will continue his service as a supervisor assigned to the patrol division.

Sergeant James Slavin is a 17-year veteran of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department. He was promoted to Corporal in 2017 and has most recently been serving as an acting sergeant for a patrol squad. In 2010 he was recognized as the officer of the year. Sergeant Slavin has received training in leadership, police management, crime scene investigation, crisis negotiations as well as interview and interrogation training. He has served as a Field Training Officer and Crisis Negotiator. Sergeant Slavin will be assigned to supervise the Detective Division.
Corporal Michael Cermignano joined the Tredyffrin Township Police Department in 2015 and was assigned to a patrol squad. Prior to coming to TTPD, Corporal Cermignano was a member of the Philadelphia Police Department in various assignments finishing his career there with the Delaware Valley Intelligence Center. He has extensive investigative training and most recently received certification as a Fire Investigator. Corporal Cermignano currently handles the Department’s Social Media platforms used to keep the public updated and informed daily. Corporal Cermignano was recognized for his efforts by the members of the department as the officer of the year in 2017.
Corporal Richard Gasparo is an 11-year veteran of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department. He is also a Field Training Officer and member of the Chester County Emergency Response team since 2013. Corporal Gasparo serves as one of the Department’s Firearms Instructors working to improve the skills and tactics for the officers. Not be left out, in 2014 Corporal Gasparo received his recognition as the Officer of the Year by his peers.
Corporals Cermignano and Gasparo will continue to work under the respective Patrol Sergeants to continue the fine traditions of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department.
