
DEVON, PA – Nearly 60 Devon Preparatory School students earned awards in the 2017 National French Contest, National Spanish Examinations, and National German Exams recently, the school said.
All of these exams offer gold, silver and bronze awards as well as honorable mentions.
Seven students were recognized for their achievement in the National French Contest. They are:

The National French Contest/ Le Grand Concours is open to French students in grades one through 12 in all 50 states and abroad, the school said.
Students take a written test and compete against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to students who rank in the 75th to 95th percentile nationally. Students in the 50th to 70th percentiles receive an honorable mention. Nearly 21,000 students were eligible for awards in 2017.
Thirty-two students earned awards in the National Spanish Examinations.

The National Spanish Examinations are a motivational contest to recognize student achievement in the study of Spanish and to stimulate further interest in the teaching and learning of Spanish, according to the school. The National Spanish Examinations are online, standardized assessment tools for Grades six through 12, given voluntarily by about 4,000 teachers throughout the United States to measure performance and achievement of students who are studying Spanish as a second language.

The National German Exam provides individual diagnostic feedback, rewards students through an extensive regional and national prize program, and creates a sense of accomplishment, the school said. Exam results provide teachers a means of comparing students in all regions of the country, as well as programmatic data provided to help inform curricular decisions.
