The Suburban rammed a Pennsylvania State Police cruiser once on I-76. When the SUV got stuck in traffic, two individuals inside got out of the vehicle and fled across both lanes of traffic on the highway. One of the two jumped into the Schuylkill River.
All seven suspects were eventually reeled in by authorities.
Police have little doubt they are dealing with gang activity, and have strong suspicions they were planning robberies.
"The m.o. of the group signifies their active participation in the 'Felony Lane Gang,'" said Detective Sergeant Todd Bereda with the Tredyffrin Police. "'This is a more directly criminal act, as opposed to a social group."
Evidence taken from the Suburban included various credit cards, checks, and identification cards, which police suspect were taken from stolen wallets and purses, a "hallmark" activity of the Felony Lane Gang.
The suspects include Sherry Howard, 48, of Baltimore, Maryland, Jeremy Evans, 40, of Baltimore, Maryland, Heather Miller, 29, of Baltimore, Maryland, Jeremy Espenshade, 28, of Baltimore, Maryland, Jerome Glinton, 22, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ashley Hamm, 22, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Keenon Seymour, 18, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
"The actions of this criminal group, placed the community in clear and present danger," Tredyffrin Superintendent of Police Anthony Giaimo said. “This was a case of excellent police work. Through their actions, this criminal group was apprehended and no serious injuries resulted to anyone involved."
A preliminary arraignment is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Mark Bruno of West Chester. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled for the above subjects before Magisterial District Judge Thomas Tartaglio of District Court 15-1-02.
