According to police, a witness described hearing noises from a driveway on Hanover Court and seeing a person, later identified as Neil Humphreys, outside of the SUV as its accelerated at a high rate of speed backward out of the driveway, striking one person on the driver’s side.
The vehicle continued backward in an arch with Barbara Humphreys in the front passenger seat being ejected from the vehicle before the car came to a stop a distance away, police said.
Police said they believe Barbara Humphreys was ejected from the SUV as a result of intense gravitational forces from the vehicle reversing in the arch at a high rate of speed.
Police later learned Neil Humphreys exited the SUV to inspect the undercarriage of the vehicle, believing that something was stuck underneath and that the vehicle was not completely in "park" when the accident occurred.
Neil Humphreys was treated at the scene and transported to Paoli Memorial Trauma Center for non-life threatening injuries, police said
