Acme Workers Vote to Avoid Strike -- For Now

Local 1776 voted unanimously on Sunday to reject Acme's current contract offer.

Acme union members have voted to avoid a strike -- at least for now.

The union representing Pennsylvania Acme Market employees, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1776, has agreed to work under the terms of their current contract until Aug. 30.

However, Local 1776 voted unanimously on Sunday to reject Acme's current contract offer.

Sticking points include raises and health care costs, NBC10 reported.

The union represents some 2,900 Acme employees, NBC said.
