TREDYFFRIN, PA — Two men have been arrested and a third remains wanted after authorities say they impersonated police, pulled over a vehicle and shot the driver during an attempted robbery last month on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Tredyffrin.
State Police did not share the victim's condition when announcing the arrests on Thursday. But court records show that one of the suspects — Tuften Green, 21, of Drexel Hill — was charged with first-degree murder. He remains at large, police said.
The shooting happened March 28 near the Valley Forge Service Plaza. Troopers reached the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m. and found a Toyota Sienna with multiple bullet holes in it.
Investigators found that Green shot the victim in the chest before multiple shots were fired at the victim's minivan, according to State Police. The driver was brought to a local hospital.
A female passenger and 3-year-old were also inside the victim's vehicle.
Green's murder charges are related to the case, a State Police spokesperson confirmed. But they declined to answer further questions about the case.
Patch is working to obtain more case records.
The suspects followed the vehicle of the victims, who were carrying a bag of cash meant for a family business investment, according to NBC10.
Green and Adams trailed in a Chevrolet Suburban, flashing red and blue lights so the victim would pull over, police said. Morel followed in another vehicle.
Green and Adams approached the victim's minivan and told them they were police. When the victim became suspicious, Green shot the driver in the chest, authorities said.
Multiple shots were fired at the victim's vehicle as they drove away, police said.
The suspects fled the scene.
Adams and Morel were charged with attempted murder of the first-degree, conspiracy to commit homicide, aggravated assault, robbery, kidnapping to facilitate a robbery, impersonating a public servant and related offenses.
Morel, 51, of Drexel Hill, and Adams, 38, of Philadelphia, were arrested and denied bail during arraignment on Tuesday. Both are confined at Chester County Prison with preliminary hearings set for April 30.
Neither suspected had a listed attorney in online court records for Patch to contact for comment on Friday.
Green was charged with similar offenses, along with murder and criminal homicide. An arrest warrant has been issued.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information on this incident or Green's location can call the State Police Embreeville Station at 610-486-6280.
