Berwyn Fire Company Members Honored For Heroic Actions

In addition to other lifesaving actions, crew members with the Berwyn Fire Company performed CPR for nearly an hour to save a woman's life.

Tredyffrin, PA -- At it's annual awards banquet, Chester County Department of Emergency Services recognized the heroic actions of several Berwyn Fire Company members.

The incident occurred on May 21, 2015. Fire & EMS Units were dispatched to a surgery center in Tredyffrin township for a Cardiac Arrest, officials said.

Responders found a woman prepared for surgery in cardiac arrest.

Surgical equipment was in the way and thus complicated the scene.

Collectively, the crew did CPR for almost a full hour until she arrived at the hospital, officials said.

The patient had intermittent pulses upon arrival at the hospital, and was ultimately discharged from the hospital healthy and with no neurological deficits.
