IDENTITY THEFTS

Lately, there have been several reports of residents’ personal information being fraudulently used to open or attempt to open credit card accounts. Please visit the Federal Trade Commission website – ftc.gov for more information on how to protect your identity.

CHECK FRAUD ARRESTS

Detectives were notified of four fraudulent checks that were cashed by two actors. After an investigation was conducted, two actors – Robert Bell, 57, and Robert McCleary, 36, both of Philadelphia, were charged with the following crimes: theft by unlawful taking; receiving stolen property and bad checks.

THEFT

May 14, 6:30 p.m., Maxima Hair Design in Gateway Shopping Center – The owner reported a theft involving an employee who stole money from the salon and attempted to conceal the thefts by falsifying paperwork. Krystina Mastrangelo-Ferko, 29, of Phoenixville, was charged with the following crimes: theft by unlawful taking; receiving stolen property; tampering with records; theft by deception and access device fraud/unauthorized use of a credit card.

FALSE REPORTING

May 25, 7:44 p.m., Lancaster Avenue in Paoli – During a traffic stop, officers charged Samuel Smith, 33, of Paoli, with supplying false identification to law enforcement.

POSSESSION

May 25, 10:13 p.m., Old Forge Crossing in Devon – Brian Lloyd, 29, of Devon, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana after he was contacted by officers responding to the complaint of the odor.

FALSE REPORTING

June 2, 4:42 p.m., Paoli Wawa parking lot – Police charged Sadiyyah Muhammad, 38, of Chester, with false reporting to law enforcement when she was contacted for vehicle code violations and intentionally gave officers the wrong information.

DUI

  • Scott Kuffel, 52, of King of Prussia, PA - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) was .235%
  • Joseph Sweeney, 51, of Wayne, PA – BAC was .366%
  • Anthony Trongone, 60, of Wayne, PA – BAC was .191%

POSSESSION

June 2, 2:24 p.m., 100 block of Dalton Road in Paoli – Police responded to the report of an unresponsive subject at the residence. An investigation was conducted which led to the arrest of Paul Winfield Myers, 24, of Delray Beach, Florida for possession with the intent to deliver; possession of a controlled substance, including suspected heroin, xanax, MDMA (ecstasy), cocaine, marijuana dabs and related paraphernalia. Myers was arraigned in front of Judge Sondergaard who set bail at $50,000 cash. After failing to post bail, Myers was transported to Chester County Prison to await a preliminary hearing on June 9.
