Chesco Names New Head of Emergency Services

The Chester County Commissioners on Monday named Robert Kagel the county’s director of the Department of Emergency Services.

Kagel previously served as the department’s deputy director, the county said.
“The safety of Chester County residents is one of our top priorities and this is an extremely important position in county government,” said Chester County Commissioners’ Chair Ryan Costello. “We are fortunate to have someone with Bobby’s experience and professionalism take on the directorship role.”

The department’s former leader was Ed Atkins, who served as director for 17 years before his death earlier this year. John Haynes, the county’s deputy director of 911 operations, served as interim director after Atkins’ death.
Kagel is a graduate of the California University of Pennsylvania.
