Chester County Gets $7,500 Donation To Restock Naloxone Supplies

A total of 58 lives have already been saved by the anti-opioid drug in Chester County.

Cigna has donated $7,500 to Chester County so that they can restock their supplies of naloxone, a lifesaving drug used in cases of opioid overdose, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan, is now widely used by law enforcement agencies around the region and around the country. Chester County first began to use the drug in 2014 in response to growing heroin overdose deaths.

The Good Fellowship Ambulance Club of West Chester has administered the county's Nalaoxone program. The DA's office said that the Cigna grant would be crucial in restocking their supplies.
