Citizens Police Academy Will Help You Keep Tredyffrin Safe

Learn about patrol procedures, DUI and drug investigations, domestic violence awareness, and more at the 17th annual academy.

BERWYN, PA – For 16 years Tredyffrin Township Police have been offering a Citizens Police Academy and this year is no different as the police want to teach you how to keep your family, friends, and neighbors in Tredyffrin Township safe.

The 17th Citizens Police Academy is now taking application from interested residents.

The academy is 11 weeks long with classes held every Wednesday night between Sept. 20 and Dec. 6. Class will not be held week of Thanksgiving.

Attendees will learn all kind of safety-related things, such as domestic violence awareness, an overview of the criminal justice system, traffic law enforcement procedures, DUI and drug investigations, patrol procedures, and much more. Attendees will be given a chance to tour the Tredyffrin police facility, the 911 Center, and local fire companies.

"Our Citizens Police Academy is an integral part of our Community crime prevention program," Tredyffrin Police said on Facebook. "By increasing understanding between citizens and police officers through training and open communications, citizens promote community involvement - which is one of the most powerful forces any law enforcement agency has in the fight against crime!"

The academy costs $50 and is open to Tredyffrin residents and those associated with Tredyffrin-based organizations.

Completed forms can be mailed to Tredyffrin Township Police Department, Community Policing Division, 1100 DuPortail Road, Berwyn, PA 19312 or faxed to (610) 644-5394.

Checks can be made payable to Tredyffrin Township Civic Fund.
