Conestoga Crew Delivers Breakthrough Performance at City Championships

PHILADELPHIA — Conestoga Crew turned a dominant regular season into a statement weekend on the Schuylkill, delivering one of the program’s most complete performances in years at the PSRA City Championships.

In a regatta defined by pressure and depth, Conestoga rose to the moment.

Seven of the team’s 12 boats racing on Sunday reached the podium, a remarkable showing that underscores the strength of the entire program—not just a handful of top entries.

Girls coach Austin Burke said the results reflected the work the team has put in throughout the spring season.

“The girls had a very successful weekend at the Philadelphia City Championships and it was a direct reflection of the hard work they have all put in this spring,” Burke said. “I am very proud of each of them and am excited to see how they continue this trend the rest of the year.”

Leading the Way: Gold in the Varsity Quad

At the top of the podium, the Girls Varsity Quad of Emma Reiter, Maizy Jacobson, Sophia Daams, and Lara Laursen captured gold, cementing Conestoga’s status as one of the premier girls sculling programs in the region.

The momentum didn’t stop there:

Across multiple boat classes and experience levels, Conestoga consistently placed boats into medal contention.

Depth on Display

Just as impressive as the medals was what happened just off the podium.

Several additional boats finished fourth overall, narrowly missing medals and reinforcing what has become the defining trait of this team: depth. From varsity to novice lineups, Conestoga showed it can compete across the board.

Capping a Historic Flick Season

The City Championships performance builds on a landmark spring in which the girls captured the Kate Godwin Trophy as the top girls sculling team in the PSRA, while the boys secured second overall in the Horvat Series standings, confirming Conestoga as one of the premier programs in the region.

Burke said the team’s success at Cities was the result of athletes embracing the championship atmosphere and delivering under pressure.

“Results like this are not accidental,” Burke said. “The team really bought in for the Sunday finals and put themselves in a position to succeed, and it is to no one's surprise that they did. We know that if we want to have a strong championship season, it starts in Philly at our home course against some of the top scholastic teams in the region.”

Combined, the results tell a clear story:
Conestoga remains one of the deepest programs on the river.

The season isn’t over.

Conestoga now turns its attention to the Mid-Atlantic Championships at Mercer Lake, New Jersey, and the SRAA National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where the competition—and the stakes—only get higher.

With momentum, depth, and confidence, Conestoga heads into the final stretch of the season ready to prove its speed on an even bigger stage.
