Conestoga Football: Two Sport Stand Out Has a Lot to Juggle

The coach credits Jake Carr with helping to build a strong Pioneers defense.

This football season has gone pretty much the way football expected it would. The Pioneers are 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the Central League, after a .

With three games to play before the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA cutoff, the Pioneers have little room for error.

“Our defensive play has been outstanding, which is what I thought before the season,” Vogan said. “We played Marple Newtown tough. The game was 10-6 for 95-percent of the time, and our defensive front seven kept us in it.

Our defense didn’t break, and I think part of that is the way plays. Jake plays baseball for me in the spring, and I know the kind of kid that he is. Jake and have done a wonderful job at inside linebacker. They’ve given us stability and consistency. Defensively, they’ve been as good as advertised.”

Next up for the Pioneers is another critical Central League game at Radnor High School Friday at 7 p.m..
